Our second survey considers prosecutions for involvement in Hizb ut-Tahrir, an international religious organisation that 15 years ago the Supreme Court of the Russian Federation ruled, on no evidence, to be a terrorist organisation.
Our first survey described the development of a system that is easily exploited for purposes of repression.
Prosecution of members of this organisation are conducted in a standardized, production-line type manner, which currently includes:
— identical charges that bear no relation to terrorism;
— about 230 individuals behind bars;
— prison terms of up to 24 years.
